Lent 2025: Day #11

"'But what about you?' he [Jesus] asked. 'Who do you say I am?'" 
~Matthew 16:15
Jesus was born to human parents; he grew in wisdom, in stature, and in relationships. This leads us to his adult life and one of the occasions that bring family together: a wedding. We are familiar with all the beloved chaos and customs of our modern weddings; past weddings, of course, had their own. 

Today we explore the beautiful, memorable gift of a miracle that Jesus performed for the family on this special occasion. 

Bible Verse

John 2:1-12
"On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, 'They have no more wine.'
'Woman, why do you involve me?' Jesus replied. 'My hour has not yet come.'
His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'
Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. 
Jesus said to the servants, 'Fill the jars with water' so they filled them to the brim. 
Then he told them, 'Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.'
They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, 'Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.'
What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days."

Jesus' work here was behind the scenes, verse 11 seems like such a side note: "What Jesus did here in 
Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him."

Hallelujah! Jesus is Christ! Jesus can do the miraculous; Jesus is able and willing to do far more than we can ever ask or imagine. Lord, forgive our unbelief; help us to believe. In Jesus' Name. Amen. 


"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

Miraculous Moments: Day #13 Casting Out Unclean Spirit

            Miraculous Moments Lent 2025: Day #13 "'But what about you?' he [Jesus] asked. 'Who do you say I am?'"  ~ Matthew 16:15 Remember our focus: Who is Jesus? Can we concisely share who Jesus is to us?  If we are still unclear about His miraculous power, today should certainly solidify which side of the eternal battle Jesus firmly stands.  Bible Verse Mark 1:21-28 "They [Jesus and his followers] went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.           Miraculous Moments Lent 2025: Day #10 "'But what about you?' he [Jesus] asked. 'Who do you say I am?'"  ~ Matthew 16:15 "Follow Me." Bible Verse Mark 1:16-20 "As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.' At once they left their nets and followed him.  When he had gone a little father, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him." [Also Matthew 4:18-22] So, Jesus needs brothers and fishermen, right?
